As a "senior" dog, Theo already suffered from several ongoing medical complications when Paola rescued him from the street. But one diagnosis caught everyone’s attention: Theo had cancer.

So, that left Paola asking, “What is chemotherapy like for dogs?”

Although a complication following surgery is never ideal, the promising part of this story is that Cuello’s family has learned, through their interactions with our telemedicine team, the proper way to care for their animals after surgery, the warning signs to look for, and when to call for help.

Starting in December 2021, we kicked off a series of ongoing visits from a local scout group to the Nature Discovery Center and the surrounding wetlands… On the first day of kayaking, the girls were hesitant.
